A rich vein of eroticism -- subtle, frank and lusty -- can be traced through Michael Dennis's twenty previous bolumes of poetry.  In the words of Yann Martel (Life of Pi), this collection is "Honest, unflinching, needy, sad, joyous, unmistakably human ... "

These poems are haunted by a litany of remembered lovers, catalogued in memory as the poet searches for an intimacy beyond the sexual. While delivering Michael Dennis' trademark bestial feast of raw lust, these poems also move deeper, into struggles with faith, loyalty, trust and love. Best read by candlelight with a lover and a bottle of vine.
                                                           Catherine Jenkins
author of "blood love & boomerangs"
                                                and   "Swimming in the Ocean"

Michael Dennis' arrows of desire revels in the smells and sounds of sex. Michael tip-toes on the boundary between romance and horny pornography. The "perfect body" in these poems isn't that of a Greek god or goddess; it is a love-handled, sweat-slathered, flushed and blotchy human body in middle age perfected by its surrender to desire. And the desire of desire haunts these poems: "the cruel passion of the little death/that defeats us all"

                                              author of "Fruit Fly Geographic"
                                                   and "Cometology"
