Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote server or to exchange information between a hosting server and a client. Since the data exchanged by the 2 sides is encoded, a 3rd party simply cannot intercept it, which makes SSH a favorite means of managing a website hosting account. The commands that can be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, for instance, the possibilities are limited as you won't have root access to the hosting server, so you can just create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, import and export databases, and so on. They're all actions which are executed in the shared hosting account and don't need a higher level of access. With a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to set up server-side software or to restart the web server or only a specific service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, but if you don't use a UNIX-like Operating System, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, which you can use to connect to the remote web server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting

SSH access is provided with all cloud hosting plans we offer. With some of them, it's offered by default, while with others it's an optional upgrade that you can include with a few mouse clicks from your web hosting CP. You can obtain SSH access through the section dedicated to it in which you can also find the details that you need to connect - the host, the port number and the username. You will be able to pick the password that you will use and, if required, you'll be able to modify it with a few mouse clicks from the same place. All commands that could be used with our shared packages are listed within a help article alongside relevant instances. If the SSH access feature is permitted for your account, you will also be able to upload files using your preferred FTP client via an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to receive SSH access to it with a mouse click from the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, supplied with all accounts. If your plan doesn't support this feature by default, you'll be able to add it with ease through the Upgrades menu. As soon as you go to the SSH section, you will discover the information you need to connect to the server through a command line or a desktop app - the server/host, the port number, the username and the password. The latter may be updated at any time, when required. These login credentials are also essential if you want to upload files via a secure connection and you would like to use SFTP, which is also part of the SSH access service we provide. An extensive list of the commands which you can perform will provide you with a better idea of what tasks you can perform inside your account and each one is accompanied by a few instances of the syntax.

SSH Telnet in VPS Servers

You'll be able to use SSH to manage your content irrespective of which VPS plans you choose when you sign up, because all of our packages include this function as standard. You'll not need to add or allow anything manually - the instant your hosting server is ready and you get the Welcome e mail with the login credentials, you'll be able to connect and start working on your web sites or any software that you'd like to set up and run on the machine. You will have root-level access to the VPS and because the account will be isolated from all of the other accounts on the physical web server, you will be able to do anything you need with no restrictions. You may set up any application you need and that will work on a Linux-based web server, restart any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and work with your files and databases easily and quickly.
